The most memorable meal I've ever had was cooked over an open flame (portobello mushrooms, gluten-free sourdough bread, fresh tomatoes and salt).
There's something otherworldly about gathering around a campfire. The crackling embers, the camaraderie with friends, the physicality of the eating experience β gathering, chopping, cutting, crafting β create an etheric atmosphere. Even the aroma of food seems to have texture.
Maybe it's the connection to the land, feeling closer to the source of our sustenance.
Maybe it's the stillness that allows us to truly savor every subtle flavor, texture, scent.
Maybe itβs the primal element of fire itself, awakening something both old and familiar within us.
Whatever itβs origin, connecting vegetable-animal-mineral with open flame is a savory, and satiating, spell.
Love this! The pics are great too!
