It's so true, getting rid of the bunnies and the mystery meats and sauces and those last few french fries you swore you would eat the next day, is very fulfilling. I know when I declutter the house, so does my mind.
There's this great substack publication that talks about different creative archetypes, and one of the scales they measure is a spectrum from mental processing to spatial processing. I lean very very very heavily towards spatial processing, so my desk, my home, my clothes- their display, their order, their expression- all function to support (or hinder) my creativity. So, for me, decluttering is the kindest thing I can do for my mental well-being and creative sparkling: https://spacies.substack.com/p/mental-processing-vs-spatial-processing
I'm the exact same way. I will clean before writing, or doing any sort of mental task. Spatial processing has a much nicer ring to it than procrastination. :-) And thanks for the link!
